Pool Tournament Raises Funds for Spring's Conference

70 students and guests participated in the pool event to raise
money for this Spring's CAPSA conference. The conference will
address realistic solutions for issues such as violence, abuse,
racism, and identity that concern the Asian American communities
in Colorado.

Chapter's annual meeting.

CACC: Celebrating Two Years of Success

200 dignitaries, CACC directors, community group representatives,
and other supporters participated in the festive event held at
the Johnny Hsu's Palace Chinese Restaurant.

Thai Lions Club's Held a Night of Entertainment to Benefit Blind
Children in Thailand

Traditional Blessing Dance and special guest singer from California
were some of the entertainment that went on at the function.
Operation:
TAGHOY, Extending a Helping Hand to One Child At a Time
The
2nd Annual Operation: TAGHOY Dinner & Dance raises money for
a second mission to help children with facial deformity in Ormoc
and Kalibo, Philippines. 
"Getting
Ready For The Next Millennium". Parents,
students, and guest speakers gathered to discuss ways to help
improve the Hmong community for the future.

This one hour presentation by the students of the CCLS gave glimpses
snapshots of 4000 years of Chinese culture and history.

Asian organizations brought together a packed and appreciative
audience for a May 22 lecture and book signing by Chinese American
author Phoebe Eng. Previously to the signing Ms. Eng was the keynote
speaker at the APAWL
Training Workshops.

The weather dampened the festival spirits as it
closed earlier than planned. Just a little after 4 p.m., event
organizers called off the festival. But like the old saying, "The
show must go on", a few performers stayed behind to entertain
the few spectators who braved the elements.
Celebration
of Laos New Year at Wat Lao?

It snowed on Friday
one day before the celebration of the Laotian New Year. When Saturday
came, the blue sky, the sun, and the Laotian people was outside
celebrating the New Year at Wat Lao Sidaounnaram Buddhist Temple
in Broomfield.

Aid orphaned children in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on July 3, 1999

A
bicycle journey to aid orphaned children on July 3, 1999. Amparo
Villaroya and Heath Wilson will set off on bicycles from the Boulder
Dushanbe Teahouse in Boulder, Colorado and will reach their final
destination of Dushanbe, Tajikistan in August 2000.

The
New Indian Community

I came to Denver about
three year's back and found that there were not many Indians around
and we used to get startled and pleasantly surprised if we see
somebody accidentally in a store. But now in past two years the
Indian community is increasing very rapidly because of the growing
opportunities in Denver.
