2nd Annual AsiaXpress.com Tennis Tournament

AsiaXpress.com held its second annual tennis tournament Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6. This year's event drew a large number of players of all ages. There were more players this year than last.

The tournament began at about 8:15 Saturday morning with tournament setup followed by player registration. Each registered player received an AsiaXpress.com T-shirt and water bottle. The tournament began shortly after registration. There were up to nine games going on at any given time.

Since the tournament featured a single-elimination format, the competition was fierce. The intimidation factor was high with some teams wearing matching uniforms. There was even warpaint! But all that warpaint must have had an effect on Mother Nature because at 3:00 Saturday, a rainstorm appeared and the wind nearly blew the tents away. We packed up the tents for the day and asked the remaining players and spectators to return on Sunday. Sunday was a perfect day for tennis with clear skies and a light, cool breeze. At the end of the day, a handful of players and teams held first-, second-, and third-place trophies.
