Denver Thai Lions Club's Held a Night of Entertainment to Benefit Blind Children in Thailand
October 23, 1999

A local Lions Club, Denver Thai Lions Club, held a function in remembering of King Rama V. All proceeds will be going to Thailand to help blind children there.

Guests at the function were entertained with many beautifully performed Thai classical blessing dance. There was also a special guest singer, Prakarn Wongrattanakamon, from Los Angeles, California, who graciously donated 100 of his CDs for this function.


Lions are members of community service clubs dedicated to the idea that men and women who live in a community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. More than 44,500 strong, these local clubs are part of the world largest. With 1.4 million members around the world, these organizations serve more than 180 countries and areas. The association is both nonpolitical and nonsectarian. Lions are best known for their sight related programs, including sight first, the world largest blindness prevention program.

Through membership in a Lions Club, people not only help those in need, but have opportunities to develop personal friendships and gain valuable leadership skills.

Members is open to men and women of legal majority and good reputation in the community, and is by invitation only. Clubs meet at least twice a month and elect officers annually. The association is governed by an international board of directors. Each year, more than 20,000 Lions attend their international conventional to discuss new ideas, share experiences and reaffirm friendship and fellowship.
