Children in Thailand
October
23, 1999
A
local Lions Club, Denver Thai Lions Club, held a function in remembering
of King Rama V. All proceeds will be going to Thailand to help
blind children there.

men and women who live in a community are in the best position
to know who needs help and why. More than 44,500 strong, these
local clubs are part of the world largest. With 1.4 million members
around the world, these
organizations serve
more than 180 countries and areas. The association is both nonpolitical
and nonsectarian. Lions are best known for their sight related
programs, including sight first, the world largest blindness prevention
program.
Through membership in a Lions Club, people not only help those
in need, but have opportunities to develop personal friendships
and gain valuable leadership skills.
Members
is open to men and women of legal majority and good reputation
in the community, and is by invitation only. Clubs meet at least
twice a month and elect officers annually. The association is
governed by an international board of directors. Each year, more
than 20,000 Lions attend their international conventional to discuss
new ideas, share experiences and reaffirm friendship and fellowship.
