Many
people from
similar cultures met
each other for the first time as three Denver Asian organizations
held
their first joint picnic at Midway Park in Broomfield. The organizations
were the
OCA (Organization of Chinese Americans), both
Denver and Boulder Chapters;
the JACL (Japanese American Citizens League) Mile-Hi Chapter;
and the Shaolin Hung Mei Pai Kung Fu Association were present
to participate in the various picnic activities which included
games and customary hamburger and hot-dogs! In the picture above
are representatives from each organization: from left to right
are Rick
Bramel from OCA Boulder, Howie
Solow from Hung Mei Pai Kung School,
Catherine
Fogg from OCA Denver, John Chin from
OCA Denver, and Tom
Masamori from JACL.
The
triplets (from left to right: Jennifer, Nicole, and Monica Mah)
were enjoying the afternoon
as representatives from
each organization mingled and brought many
varieties of food to the table.
Participants
played volleyball, horseshoe throwing,
and Italian rolling ball. Judging from the looks on the many happy
faces, they relished the chance to laugh and play with strangers
sharing a like background.
