On
October 7, 2001, a small ceremony of the Colorado Chinese WTC relief fund
has been held in Bohua Chinese School for transferring the fund to American
Red Cross. After the 9.11 attack in US, all Chinese in Colorado were shocked
and enthusiastic to provide their support to the people who
lost their lives. This funding campaign was initiated by Mr. Zhang Fan
on September 12, 2001 and organized and supported by eight Chinese associations
in Denver metro area:
-
Bohua Chinese School Rocky
- Mountain
Chinese Association
- Chinese
American Association for Rocky Mountain Region (CAA-RMR)
- Shaolin
Hung Mei Kung Fu Association
- Denver
Chinese School
- Chinese
American Post
- CU
Boulder CSSA
- Fort
Collins Chinese School
The
leaders from these organizations and Bohua Chinese School members attended
the ceremony as Mr. Zhang Fan deliver his opening speech and a $10,000
donation to American Red Cross for helping the disaster relief has been
transferred by Mr. Zhang Fan to Mr. Brannen Ulrick, the branch manager
of American Red Cross Boulder County Branch. This was a very successful
campaign in the Chinese community in the great Denver metro area joined
by non-Chinese American and non-Colorado Chinese in China. Mr Zhang Fan
devoted a great amount of time to coordinate the eight organizations,
to set up mailbox and to manage and transfer the fund with assistance
of Mr. Lin Yun and Xu Yizi from Bohua Chinese School. The eight organizations
put a great effort for successful fundraising. They are Xie Yuan Fu, Lin
Yun, Xu Yizi, Liu Hui Liang, Zhou Feng Qin, George Chen, Pan Wei Wen,
Sharon Xiong, Zhang Hai Yue, Feng Mimi. Through this campaign, the Chinese
community has been seen as a united group with great compassion and enthusiasm.
