The event organized by Sum Cong Nguyen, President of the Unified Nationalist Vietnamese Committee attracted over 200 guests at King’s Land Restaurant in Denver on November 4, 2000.

The Unified Nationalist Vietnamese Committee of Colorado urgently organized a fund raising dinner on Nov. 4, 2000 at the King’s Land Restaurant for the victims of the flood that recently ravaged the Mekong Delta area in South Vietnam. There were over 200 supporters who attended this charitable event.

The flood affected 16 provinces. The total dead rose up to 500 people, among them 300 women and children who died. 830,000 houses and 2,637 schools were submerged or carried away by the raging waters. Flood victims had no food, no drinking water, no medicine and diseases are now spreading throughout the area.

Organized by President Sung Cong Nguyen, the fund raising event was very successful. In his concluding speech, he said, "Your presence and contributions are deeply appreciated. On behalf of the flood victims, we thank you very much for your humanity and generosity."
