The Colorado Chinese Club (CCC) in cooperation with the Cultural Division, Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Houston, Texas, sponsored a Chinese Music and Dance Performance at Abraham Lincoln High School.

The Mei-Chiang Folk Dance Troupe was founded in 1977, a renowned performing group in Taiwan, now traveling from Taiwan, Republic of China, to participate in this celebration. Over the years and after hundreds of live performances, the Mei-Chiang Folk Dance Troupe is confirmed as the finest Chinese folk dance group, abundant with creativity and restless performances. Mei-Chiang was invited to come last October to perform to raise a relief fund for the Taiwan Earthquake victims.

There was 16 dance-loving youngsters under the direction of Director Ms. Kuo Mei-Chiang to explore the essence of dance art. The program includes Dancing with the Dragon, Dancing Clouds, Spring in Uigur, A Portrait of the Tai Minority, The Tubersose, Classical Chinese Music Presentation, and many more.

The sponsor, CCC, a Colorado registered nonprofit organization, was established in 1975 with the support from many individuals and numerous local Chinese American organizations. The club is dedicated to the promotion of the Chinese heritage in the Rockies. Currently, Mr. Van Anh Tran is the president of the club.

An estimate of fifteen hundred people participated in this celebration. Admission to the performance was free as a gesture of gratitude for everyone's support.
