FACC 50th Anniversary

Filipino-American Community of Colorado
celebrates 50th Anniversary.

The Filipino-American Community of Colorado (FACC) celebrated its 50th Anniversary since its founding under the name of the Filipino Club of the Rockies (1954).

Under the leadership of Frances Campbell, FACC’s 19th president, the community’s historic event was marked with both solemn and enjoyable performances.

Congressman Bob Beauprez was the special guest speaker who spoke about the contributions of immigrants, his grandfather being one from Belgium. He lauded the achievements of FACC. Being a member of the Veteran’s Affairs Committee, Congressman Beauprez also spoke about his commitment to support legislation for the benefit of Filipino veterans who were sadly ignored during the last 57 years.

About three hundred members and guests enjoyed the special program including the posting of colors, the singing of the U.S. and Philippine national anthems.

“This is my Home,” an inspired composition by resident artist, Malou Mateo Stirman was sang by the Jubilee Chorus. This was about the travails of immigrants of long ago who gathered friends and built a home where they could get together and reminisce and dream.

The evening ended with raffle drawing of door prizes and public dancing.
