Dragon Boat Race Results

Dragon Boat Race Results
8/24/2003

From the Dragon Boat Festival's Organizing Committee:

Congratulations to all of you that attended, volunteered and/or raced in this year's Colorado Dragon Boat Festival. This year's festival was the best yet! Over 80 booths, non-stop performances on stage from 11:00 - 6:30, and of course, the exciting races!! The crowd estimates by Denver Safety Officers throughout the festival was 50,000! Yeah, give yourself a hand for your efforts. This year the racing teams were very competitive and the closeness of the races proved it; we even had a dead heat and the teams had to race again. Other races were won by less than a few hundredths of a second - good thing we had electronic timers in place.

Congratulations to the six finalist in the two brackets:
Place Winners Bracket Consolation Bracket
1 Coors Brewing Team Premier Dynasty
2 Ronin Dragon The Mongolian Wolves
3 Imua Polynesia Sync or Swim

The Coors team was anchored by none other than Peter Coors. Imua Polynesia defeated last year's defending champion Safety Serpents in a very close race. The Mongolian Team, the festival's inaugural Champions, returned to their winning ways and look to become even better for next year. The Sync or Swim team proved that 20 strangers can come together and cooperate to win. This team was made up of individuals that wanted to race but did not have a team sponsor, so the individuals paid the entry fee themselves and it appears that they will be back next year- but not as strangers. This year we welcomed a team from the GI Forum; which shows that the festival is reaching out to all the communities. After their final race, they pledged that they will be back next year. For information regarding the teams, team members and the final results of the race, go to the www.coloradodragonboat.org official web site.

Again, thank you for your support and efforts in making this year's festival a huge success and invite you to participate in making next year's festival even more successful.
