On March 10, Asian Unity presented their second annual Culture Night in Boulder. The students showcased music and dancing from many different cultures, as well as a martial arts demonstration performed by the Shaolin Hung Mei Pai Kungfu. The show started a little after the scheduled time at 6:00 PM to a packed crowd. The Shaolin Hung Mei Pai Kungfu groups started things off with a lion dance. Next, the students greeted the audience in many different Asian dialects. Songs and dances from Japan, Vietnam, China, Cambodia, Laos, and the Philippines filled the night’s events.
At the intermission, the audience was treated to food and refreshments. The second half of the show started off with a fashion show, with members of Asian Unity showcasing clothing from all across Asia. Definitely one of the crowd pleasers of the night was the Bamboo Dance performed by the members of the Philippines American Society of Colorado. With the possible exception of a few technical difficulties that lingered, the night’s event was a big success, ending at roughly 9:00 PM.
