Governor’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Council holds Holiday Celebration

On Saturday, December 30, 2000, the Governor’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Council held its first annual holiday party. The festive occasion was at the Inverness Hotel and Golf Course in southeast Denver. Partygoers were treated to the well-known Garden Terrace delicious seafood buffet, touted in Westword as one of the "Best of Denver." Following dessert, a gift extra was held. Daniel Oh, Council Chair, spoke about the groundwork that had been laid this year. In addition, he underscored the important events of the upcoming year. In particular, Oh referenced the Asian Summit that the Council was planning with the Governor’s office. Teresa Niemi acted as emcee for the festivities.

The celebration was well-attended. Celebrants included the Governor’s representative, Mike Salaz, and his wife, Karen; Rev. Paul Lin; Peter and Sun Lee; Chiyo and Richard Horiuchi and their visiting nephew; Teresa and Tom Neimi; Daniel and Irene Oh; John and Susan Chin; Sum Cong Nguyen; Tong Heng; Suegie Park; Ba Vovan; John & Nai-li Yee; Lily Shen and Jerry Pierce; and Yang Chee and his organization’s vice president.

The next meeting of the Governor’s Asian Pacific American Advisory Council is Wednesday, January 9, 2001 at Capitol Center, Lower Conference, 225 E 16th Avenue, starting at 5:30 PM. The Council meets on the first Wednesday of each month. The General Public is welcome.
