The Philippine Rondalla of Denver and the Jr. Wahines received certificates of appreciation from P/AAT.

The First Humanitarian Award went to Dr. Amelia Ashmann, for her in recognition of her quiet, gracious, unselfish and expert care of the health of her patients, particularly the Filipinos and their families, including visiting relatives who come to her, often without notice and for her intense desire and intention to establish a center for the elderly in the near future.

The first Outstanding Couple of the Year Award was presented to Jay and Donna LaVigne in recognition of and deep appreciation of their unselfish dedication and commitment to volunteerism and community service in Colorado and in the Philippines and in particular, of their total, unconditional support of the Philippine/Asian American Times.

In a surprise move, Publisher Joseph Noli Lopez and wife, Connie, gave awards of appreciation also to Nestor Mercado (Editor) and Elnora M. Mercado (Managing Editor) for five years of exemplary and outstanding achievement as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor of the Philippine/Asian American Times, Inc.

For more details about this celebration, read the May issue of the Philippine/Asian American Times.
