Aurora Asian Film Festival Article | Picture gallery For four days, Aurora and Denver Metro residents were treated to a variety of Asian films during the 4th Aurora Asian Film Festival held at the Aurora Fox Arts Theater. Cultural presentations from different Asian groups were presented
at the Fletcher Plaza, about 2 blocks from the theater. On opening night, a reception at Fletcher Plaza featured the Chinese Lion Dance.
A refreshing introduction to the Asian Film Festival in four different Asian languages was given by the past, present and future Co-Chairs: Patty Coutts, Donna LaVigne, Gloria Williams and Lily Shen. A large crowd enjoyed the Gamelan performance. Manick Sorcar and family were present to enjoy the films and the cultural presentations. The Animation of Manick Sorcar was presented on the Saturday showing. Piya Sorcar starred in the live/animation film.
On the second night, Philippine and Thai films were shown. At the cultural show, a beautiful Thai dancer played the role of a princess as she entertained the audience. On closing night, Aurora Mayor Paul Tauer and Kate Tauer honored the festival with their presence.
Credited for the success of the festival were: Lily Shen, Jeff Seifried, Ron Henderson (Denver Film Society) and Gloria Williams (Co-Chair of the Aurora Asian Pacific American Community Partnership) For more text and photos, please see the June, 2001 issue of the Philippine/Asian American Times.
